Exhibition Type

Non-juried.  Depending on the number of submissions received, space requirement may cap the number of artwork that we are able to display for the exhibition. All artists will receive honorarium and mention in appreciation of their contribution.

The Baha'i Community of Port Moody is inviting artists from the city to participate in an Art Exhibition celebrating the bicentennial of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh, the Prophet and Founder of the Baha’i Faith, at the heart of Whose teachings is the fundamental principle of the unity of humanity and the elimination of all forms of  prejudice. 

 

The exhibition will be housed in the Port Moody Galleria. It will be officiated on October 21, 2017 with over 200 guests and dignitaries in attendance and will remain open for viewing until October 25, 2017. It will showcase creative expressions of the universal principles enunciated by Bahá’u’lláh over a century ago for the spiritual and material advancement of civilization. These include:

  1. The Oneness of Humanity

  2. The Elimination of Prejudice

  3. Independent Investigation of Truth

  4. The Integration of Worship and Service

  5. The Equality of Men and Women

  6. The Common Foundation of all Faiths

  7. The Essential Harmony of Science and Religion

  8. The Centrality of Justice to all Human Endeavours

  9. A Universal Auxiliary Language

  10. Elimination of Extremes of Wealth and Poverty

  11. Universal Education

  12. The Oneness of God

Artists are invited to design a theme by selecting from one or more of the principles above and to develop a creative presentation thereof.

Submission Guidelines

Paintings, mixed media, and sculptures only. No work that requires special installation or instructions will be accepted.​

​

  1. Sizes for submitted works are as follow:

    • Canvas/Flat Artwork:          Max 30 inches x 40 inches    (vertical / horizontal)

    • Sculpture/3D Artwork:           24 inches square (max) base and standing up to 40 inches high

  2. Submitted work must be dry and ready to hang with wire (no saw tooth hangers please)

  3. All artwork must be original and non-political in nature

  4. Maximum of 2 entries per artist

  5. All entries must be labelled with:

    • The artist’s name, address, email and phone number

    • The title of the work with reference to the selected principle/s 

    • The medium of the work

    • The size/dimensions of the work

    • A short artist bio/statement​ 

  6. Electronic Submissions:

    • Deadline: 10 pm Oct. 03 2017

    • Max file sixe: 6 MB per email

​Conditions

  • Accepted entries must remain on display from Oct. 21 to 25, 2017. 

  • The organizer reserves the right to use artist’s images for promotions.

  • While all necessary care will be taken to ensure safe handing, storage and display of the artwork, the organizer shall not be held liable for any damages or loss.
